Distinctive Eye Care is excited to announce that we are now able to take digital retinal photos!

To help diagnose and treat even the most difficult eye problems, we make sure that our office has the most up-to-date instrumentation available. We now have a state-of-the-art Zeiss Visucam retinal camera and can photograph retinal diseases.  We are offering retinal screening photos at a reduced price to all of our patients.  These photos are good to have as a baseline for monitoring changes from year to year so retinal problems can be diagnosed at the earliest possible stage.

Retinal photos are especially important for patients with systemic hypertension or diabetes.  Our doctors can analyze the photos for minute changes in the retinal blood vessels which may warrant further follow-up by your primary care physician.  We can email or mail your primary care physician the retinal images which may then be used to gauge the severity of these systemic disease and can aid in treatment.

It is very important for patients with these systemic conditions to have an annual dilated eye examination as a preventive measure.  It is also important for otherwise healthy individuals to have an annual eye examination to evaluate for early signs of ocular diseases, such as glaucoma, which have no symptoms until vision is irreparably lost.
